About Dee Granger

Dee's been very busy getting her store ready, so, she hasn't finished her biography for her page. As her daughter, I feel I can give you a little background information:

Dee has been making art all her life, though she hasn't always thought of herself as an artist. While raising four kids she managed to also be a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Webelo Pack Leader and a Sunday School Day Camp Counselor and lot of other things, too. To every one one of these activities (including being a great Mom!)she brought her natural artistic abilities and she taught arts and crafts and how to see and think like an artist.

After those kids were (mostly) grown and gone she went back to college to finish her degree at Slippery Rock University. She majored in Art and has been making sculpture, cast pewter items, and jewelry ever since (she also dabbles in painting now and then, but, she probably won't want me to mention that!).

Here is a great article about Dee and her work in the Coastal Point.

What's with the Lighthouse?

Dee's studio

With Dee and her husband Ed's moving to OC to live full time, Dee needed to find a studio as their condo just couldn't accommodate all her equipment and materials. After trying on a number of different options, Dee found a 50's era trailer that was "just right" for her and her work. Even better, the trailer was located in a trailer park at the base of the Fenwick Island lighthouse. For an artist who loves lighthouses and the beach, nothing could be better!

As Dee says: "Lighthouses are in my blood having an ancestor who was a Lighthouse Keeper on the Isles of Shoals, 10 miles out from the Maine New Hampshire Coast."
